AUTHOR: Rosie Danan GENRE: NA Romance PAGES: 325 RELEASED: 15 September 2020 SYNOPSIS: House Rules: Do your own dishes Knock before entering the bathroom Never look up your roommate online The Wheatons are infamous among the east coast elite for their lack of impulse control, except for their daughter Clara. She’s the consummate socialite: over-achieving, well-mannered, predictable. But every Wheaton has their weakness. When Clara’s childhood crush invites her to move cross-country, the offer is too much to resist. Unfortunately, it’s also too good to be true. After a bait-and-switch, Clara finds herself sharing a lease with a charming stranger. Josh might be a bit too perceptive—not to mention handsome—for comfort, but there’s a good chance he and Clara could have survived sharing a summer sublet if she hadn’t looked him up on the Internet... Once she learns how Josh has made a name for himself, Clara realizes living with him might make her the Wheaton’s most scandalous story yet. His professional prowess inspires her to take tackling the stigma against female desire into her own hands. They may not agree on much, but Josh and Clara both believe women deserve better sex. What they decide to do about it will change both of their lives, and if they’re lucky, they’ll help everyone else get lucky too. Nothing like unknowingly moving in with a porn star to spice up your life!
Clara has packed up her prim and proper Connecticut life to move to Hollywood to live with her best friend and the guy she's been crushing on since they were kids. Only he's heading off for the summer to tour with his band and rented out his room to some guy on the internet. It's fine, Clara can make this work, somehow, and Josh seems like a nice enough guy. Cue her learning that he's one of the hottest adult entertainers at the moment, and proceeding to Google him. They came from two different world - Clara the uptight, upper class, Society Page obsessed East Coast, and Josh the college drop out who stumbled into the world of adult entertainment by accident. Despite their differences, there's a spark they can't deny, and when they begin working on a new business venture together, it becomes harder and harder to hide their attraction to one another. I LOVE the roommate/opposites attracts trope, and this book certainly delivered on all fronts! The sexual tension was oozing off the page and Rosie took the sex-positive nature of romance novels to the next level. Clara and Josh's relationship had a bit of a slow burn to it, and Rosie did such an awesome job with the build-up to the inevitable - as much as you wanted them to hurry up and get their act together, you wanted the make it last as long as possible. As someone who has predominantly devoured 1st person alternating perspectives when it comes to romance, I really enjoyed the 3rd person alternating perspectives that Rosie offered with this book. It was actually quiet refreshing (but like, I'm a sucker for the 1st person feels). Unfortunately, I felt like the ending was a little rushed. The resolution after everything that Clara and Josh went through and overcame was over before we really got a chance t sink our teeth into it all. Not to mention, the epilogue, set two months later, had a LOT going on but was super short - I'm hoping that the upcoming companion novel will help five a little more closure as well as diving into the next story. If you're a romance fan, this is a book you definitely need to keep on your radar. It's the perfect amounts of fun, flirty, swoony and steamy, which is a pretty darn good recipe for your next romance read. Get to the book sooner rather than later as the companion novel is coming in April! |
