Author: Emma Hart Genre: New Adult Romance Pages: 41 Released: 5 July 2020 Series: The Girl Next Door #0.5 Look, I didn't go out of my way to sleep with my next-door neighbor. It just happened. On the counter. Over the counter. Probably under it, too, if we hadn't moved it to the bedroom. But take it from me: a one night stand with your neighbor? It's not all it's cracked up to be... The One Night Stand Next Door is a short, flirty, and dirty prequel to The Girl Next Door. You don't have to read it before you dive in to The Girl Next Door, but why wouldn't you? A few too many tequilas and your hot next door neighbour? Yep, that sounds like the perfect recipe for a one-night stand!
Ivy is not really a party person, despite attending now three parties in her apartment building. Pensioners can be pretty persuasive it seems, and they certainly know how to out-party a 26-year-old. The only other person under 35 at the party, or in the building for that matter, is her gorgeous next door neighbour Kai, who's she's had one too many dirty dreams about than she cares to admit. With the tequila flowing, and the lowkey flirting that has been going on for months now, it's not surprising that the evening sees them end up back in Ivy's apartment, clothes strewn everywhere. Just one night is harmless... right? I didn't know whether to read this before or after The Girl Next Door, but since it is the prequel, I thought it only sensible to read it first and I'm so glad I did! It was the PERFECT set up to the actual book (which I'm currently reading as I write this review). At only 41 pages long, this swoon-worthy and steamy AF teaser gives you a great introduction to Ivy and Kai's relationship, as well as the dynamics of the apartment building they live in and Ivy's kooky grandmother. And really, there's nothing like a little kitchen counter sex to really get you invested in a fictional couple and reaching for the next book the second you turn the final page. If you're planning to read The Girl Next Door, make sure you pick this prequel up first. While you could totally read it afterwards, it really hooks you into Ivy and Kai's story if you read it first. New adult romance fans, this is definitely a book(s) you need to add to your TBR, like right now! |
